To the Class of 2020,
First, I hope that you are taking the necessary precautions and staying safe. Second, I hope that you are reaching out to your teachers if you have any questions about the new instructional material that you are receiving from them. I can honestly tell you that they are really missing you! Third, I want you to know that you are on the hearts and minds of all of us. As your Principal, I want you to know that it is my desire and the district’s to give you the most traditional graduation ceremony that we can give. You also need to know that you will officially graduate on June 5, 2020, regardless of when your ceremony may take place. Our ultimate hope is that by Friday, June 5, 2020, Governor Wolf has lifted his ban on gatherings of more than 10 people and we can hold a traditional graduation for you. In the meantime, we are listening and learning about other graduation ceremony ideas, one being to delay the ceremony to later in the summer when Governor Wolf’s ban has hopefully been lifted. Honestly, there are lots of ideas out there, but obviously we want what’s best for you. As soon as we have made a final decision about your graduation ceremony, we will let you know.
In regards to the Prom, it obviously has been postponed at this time. As with graduation, one possibility is to delay it to a later date in the summer when large gatherings are once again allowed.
Please stay safe during this time and I look forward to seeing you again very soon.
