The Lagonda Homemakers bestowed their talents and gifts upon Waynesburg Central Elementary School’s Angel Tree. Thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Laura Hilverding's (CGSD employee) many students will keep warm this winter. Homemade blankets, crocheted hats, and school supplies were donated to the school’s Angel Tree. There were over 55 blankets created and donated to Waynesburg Central Elementary Students. The Lagonda Homemakers mission is to help others by using their skills and talents. For more information about this group contact President, Mary Lee Quinn. Also, if you would like to donate fabric for future projects WCES will be collecting fabric (2 yards per blanket). Donations can be delivered to WCES Guidance Office.
WCHS Mock Crime Scene Activity
On October 30th, 2019, the WCHS Forensics class, WCHS Gifted class, and other WCHS students interested in a criminal justice career path teamed up with students from the GCCTC Emergency Protective Services to investigate a mock crime scene. Direct instruction was collected from WCHS and GCCTC course instructors along with School Resource Officer, Andy Zimmer, Waynesburg Chief of Police, Tom Ankrom, and Greene County Coroner, Gene Rush, who each volunteered their time for the benefit of the students. The video highlights the hands-on learning that occurred during the mock investigation. It was an amazing way to collaborate, investigate and apply the information obtained in and beyond the classroom.
Waynesburg Central High School students, because of the newly created partnership with Waynesburg University, now can take dual enrollment courses at Waynesburg University through their new Achievement Academy.
